Apple Pie

Ingredients ( for 1 apple pie)

  1. Flour- 2 1/2 cups

  2. Salt- 1 tsp

  3. Cold butter- 1/2 cup

  4. Ice water- 8 tbsp

  5. Apples- 2 cups

  6. Sugar- 1/2 cup

  7. Flour- 2 tbsp

  8. Salt- 1/2 tsp

  9. Cinnamon- 1 tsp

  10. Nutmeg- 1/4 tsp

  11. Lemon- 1/2 a lemon

  12. Egg wash- eggs mixed with water/ just water

  13. Sugar- 1 tbsp



Procedure

Mix the first batch of flour and first batch of salt salt together in a big bowl. Add in the cold butter and mush it in with a fork. Then take the ice water, and put little by little into the bowl, mixing in between each addition. Take the dough and put it out on the counter and cover in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.


While the dough is chilling, take your apples out and start peeling all of them, and then slice it into pieces. Put that into a bowl, and to that, add the sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon. Mix all that in and set aside.


Next, take the dough out and cut it into half. Take one of the halves and roll it out on the counter. Put that onto a tart/pie pan. Cut off the excess and fit the dough into place. Then pour the apple mixture on top of the dough and flatten it. After that, roll out the second half of the dough and put it on top of the apples. Again, remember to cut the excess and fit it into place.


Then, take a pastry brush, and dip it in the egg wash/ water and brush it all on the top of the dough. After that, sprinkle the sugar all over the top of the dough and take a knife and make a plus sign at the centre of the dough.


Put this into a 180 degree oven and bake it for 45-50 minutes. Take it out and let it cool for at least 15 min. Lastly, cut some slices and enjoy!!
